On Tuesday, October 15th, an important concert took place as part of the cycle of international activities of our association in Buenos Aires.
The event was held at the Auditorium of the Pestalozzi School (Pestalozzi-Schule) as part of the thesis defense of our member and board member, Federico J. Ginzburg Natalucci, before a committee from the Universidad Nacional de las Artes (Argentina). This concert, marking the culmination of the bachelor's degree in orchestral conducting, was presented in collaboration with the Richard Wagner Verband International, The Wagner Society of Scotland, RWV Roma, and RWV Ravello.
The heartfelt concert featured a chamber orchestra of seventeen musicians and two soloists, under the baton of Conductor Lic. Federico J. Ginzburg Natalucci. The program was entirely dedicated to the German-Austrian post-romanticism, structured in two parts: the first, a selection of Lieder by Gustav Mahler and Richard Strauss; and the second, an instrumental program with works by Gustav Mahler and Anton Bruckner.
The large audience responded with great enthusiasm to the concert, which was the result of a significant collaborative effort and a passion for presenting a repertoire that is rarely performed in the country. For the curation and selection of Lieder, various musical arrangements and adaptations for string orchestra were made by Lic. Federico Ginzburg Natalucci, allowing the program to be performed with an unusual orchestral formation for the repertoire.
In addition to the concert, the collaborating associations offered their support for the thesis research due to the special interest in studying Richard Wagner's life, work, and his lasting influence on subsequent generations of musicians and composers. The academic work, titled "The interpretive-musical function of the philosophy of the Platonic tradition in the repertoire of German-Austrian post-romanticism," provided the theoretical foundation for the chamber orchestra concert on Tuesday, October 15th.
At the end of the evening, the acknowledgments were extended, first and foremost, to the president of our association, Luca Maria Spagnuolo, and to the support received from the President of the RWVI, Harry Leutscher. Special mention was given to the management and guidance of the president of the RWV Scotland and member of the Presidium, Derek Williams. Thanks were also extended to the President of the Department of Culture at Pestalozzi-Schule, Susana Faig, who managed the reception of the orchestra at the institution's facilities, and finally, to the authorities of the thesis tribunal from the National University of the Arts (UNA): Tutor, Gian Piero Luque, and Vocal, Claudio Alsuyet.
To conclude, and with special symbolic value, the immense work carried out 100 years ago by the former Wagnerian Association of Buenos Aires was recalled before the authorities, highlighting their role in founding the Conservatorio Nacional López Buchardo, which is now the Departamento de Artes Musicales y Sonoras de la Universidad Nacional de las Artes.
